I know, 2020 Best of! How could 2020 have the best of anything? 2020 was a truly shocking year , It really was, heartbreaking with so many lives lost and changed forever, businesses that have been building up over many years had been wiped out completely! When Coronavirus really took hold at the end of March and lockdown for a few weeks were announced, it was all very exciting! Everyone must stay home , and basically sit in the garden basking in the warm sunshine, eating and drinking, how wonderful!
For many others though, it wasn't so exciting! The entire wedding , events and live music industry had been brought to its knees with all gatherings banned for the foreseable future! The anxiety for business owners and wedding couples alike was incredibly high and almost an entire years worth of business disappeared overnight with everyone rescheduling their plans! Devastating! As the weeks rolled by and with restrictions starting to ease , the Micro wedding was born! Couples had decided enough was enough and no matter what , they wanted to get married with their closest family and friends by their side! They knew what was important to them and that was actually being married , the big party could wait and wasn't of great importance at the moment! Now, don't get me wrong, I love love love a big wedding and evening reception, I'm normally on the dance floor capturing some epic moves, but for now they were on hold!
Up until March I had captured 4 full size weddings and then I had a long wait until the end of August until my next wedding , my first Micro wedding of 30 guests, 30 guests wearing masks and with social distancing! However , it was wonderful, absolutely wonderful! Love wins, it really does , magical!
With so much uncertainty on gatherings for the rest of 2020 I was fortunate to capture a further 7 micro weddings taking my total to 11 weddings captured out of what should have been 40 throughout the wedding season! Scary scary times, but, I adapted , I was flexible and I survived! I even got to witness a wedding proposal , and capture some wonderful images of this very personal and beautiful moment!
I am not too sure what 2021 will bring , with the roll out of the vaccine I really hope things start to improve for everyone and that lives will be saved from this evil virus! If you are a wedding couple getting married this year , I truly hope this gives you the little spark of hope that once restrictions are lifted , your wedding will be truly magical no matter what the guest allowance will be and if you do have to postpone your day, please be thoughtful to all of your suppliers when choosing new dates! If you are a wedding supplier, hang in there, you've made it this far , keep on swimming and we will all be back to happier times! Below are a few favourites from all my weddings, engagement shoots and wedding proposal from 2020, enjoy , and stay safe!
